Consider This Before Booking Your Next Flight

Canadians are very loyal to their brands, nearly every market research could show you that. However, many fail to maximize their loyalty programs. This article is about taking advantage of PC Insiders Travel Credit to minimize your travel spend.

President's Choice (PC) is among the major brands in Canada. At the end of 2017 they launched PC Insiders, which is an annual subscription service that unlocks perks & benefits on select food, apparel, and more at participating retailers. Subscription costs $99 CAD + tax, it includes
>free shipping from Joe Fresh and Shoppers Drug Mart
>free store pick ups using PC Express
>$99 CAD travel credit to use towards flight spend through PC Travel's booking portal

Now This Is Where Things Get Interesting

I was emailed a special offer from PC this summer, which asked me to sign up to a annual subscription of PC Insiders for $99 CAD + tax. I would receive all the benefits listed above and:

>an additional one month free

>50,000 PC points as a sign up bonus ($50 CAD worth)

Payoff Of PC Insiders Subscription

PC subscription         - $112 CAD  ($99 CAD + tax)

PC travel credit          + $99 CAD

50.000 bonus points + $50 CAD

                                   =+ $37 CAD

IT'S AS IF NETFLIX GAVE YOU A FREE MONTH OF SERVICE AND 133% OF YOUR SUBSCRIPTION MONEY BACK!

So What Does This Have To Do With My Next Flight Booking?

I was looking for flights from Toronto to London on WestJet: I found a ticket for $274 CAD. I could book the ticket directly on WestJet's website for $274 CAD or I could use my PC travel credit, on PC Travel, which discounted the ticket by $99 CAD for a total cost of $175 CAD. I also had the 50,000 PC points ($50 CAD)  which I used to buy travel amenities and a universal charger at Shoppers Drug Mart.

In the end, rather than losing money, I made $37 CAD by subscribing to PC Insiders. Beyond the sign up bonus and the travel credit, I can use free food and apparel delivery and pick up throughout the whole year.  HECK YEA!
